Castle Gardens Maternity Shoot

I was so excited to shoot my maternity photos at Castle Gardens. However, not much thought was put into how hard it was going to be for me to get around, especially since it was put it off til last minute. I had to hike up in sandals because my lovely feet were too swollen to fit into tennis shoes, I had to change into my dress at the top while other people were hanging out at the bottom and then my husband continuously had to help me get up to the different places, which you can see lovely pictures of that fiasco below! Had I not waited until 38 weeks when I was completely water logged and swollen I probably could have gotten around a lot better!
When I photograph other moms during their maternity shoots I never realized just how uncomfortable it can be. You don't feel like yourself, you're swollen, worried about all your chins showing and don't even get me started on getting ready to just get out of the house. I put this shoot off for the longest time because between my husbands crazy work schedule and my 1 year old the last thing I wanted to do was get ready, get all my gear together drive to castle gardens and attempt to get some decent pictures with a tripod and remote or timer. Then my sister and nephew came to visit and we took full advantage of those extra hands! Photo cred goes to my husband and sister, I just put the camera on the right settings and edited. My nephew had his hands full with our dogs and Mason. We also ended up choosing a day that it was supposed to snow so it was pretty chilly.
It ended up going great! We had no weather, Mason had a blast and we got some great memories out of it! I hope to convince another mama someday soon to let me take her out there and be able to take advantage of being behind the camera at such a beautiful location. What I didn't get pictures of however was after this we let my nephew drive to the main road.. to say we made it in one piece would almost be a lie! :)
