About 7 months ago I was looking for a workshop to attend. I had an yearning to be around some of "my people". Workshops are located everywhere but none of them stood out to me. Somehow I ran across Photo Rehab, and later once finding out this was only their 3rd year and how close knit of a family they are, I don't know how I was lucky enough to come across it. This years Rehab was happening in Estes Park, Colorado and I knew right then it was the one for me. Like most Wyomingites I'm sure, the mountains are my happy place. Immediately calling my husband and saying "I have to go!" he replied "If that is what you want, then go." Five minutes later I was signed up with a deposit down for my spot. The excitement I carried for months was unexplainable. I was finally going to be surrounded by people that understood my passion, challenges, fears and creative nature.
Showing up to the airport and seeing the connection these people had with each other was nothing short of amazing. They weren't just photographers or people with a common passion, they were family. I made friends that I will have for a lifetime. I have people to help me when I'm feeling down and out about my passion and second guessing if what I'm doing is right. We had business classes, styled shoots, live shoots and lots of dancing. Not only that but we kept hearing about this surprise. Tuesday afternoon we all got an invitation to two fellow rehabbers wedding that was happening on the lake in 3 HOURS! Jenn and Brad chose to have these 50 photographers be the only ones to attend their wedding. If that doesn't tell you how close knit these people are then I'm not sure what will. It was beautiful! Throughout their vows, first dance and celebrating their marriage that night you could constantly see the love they shared for each other. Moments like that are what make a photographer passionate about their job. We want to capture those memories and moments. We want them to look back on those photos and think wow, I remember how I was feeling right in that second.
This was an experience of a lifetime! We had an elk hang out with us most of the time, we broke bread and had drinks and we shared our passion. As long as PhotoRehab is going, I will be there! View a little bit of Jenn and Brads gallery below! <3
